  • In Science, we continue to be meteorologists and study weather patterns.
  • In Reading, students are utilizing multiple reading strategies and are excelling in reading fluency and comprehension.
  • In Writing, the students are exploring different graphic organizers to organize their ideas and write realistic fiction short stories and fables.
  • Spring recess is the week of April 10th.
  • Report cards will be online for the third marking period on Wednesday, April 19th.

I am looking forward to having a great month of learning and fun with my students!
MARCH NEWSLETTER

Happy March! This year is really flying by!

I would like to thank all of our 2D families who came to our Meet the Presidents Showcase. The children were so happy to have you there. I hope you enjoyed it.

Please continue to work with your child on reading homework with their written responses. Written comprehension is very important to helping the students’ progress to higher reading levels. The students have to be able to write constructed responses.

In Math, we are learning to read, write, and compare numbers to 1,000.

In Reading Workshop, we are enjoying reading in nonfiction texts and learning about their text features.

In Writing Workshop, students are learning how to write a letter to an author or a character. They also continue to write a response journal every day.

In Social Studies, we are learning to use physical and political maps.

In Science, we are studying Air & Weather! Our class meteorologists keep us abreast of daily weather conditions.

Please note that on March 2nd, at 6 p.m., there will be a Literacy Night” for parents and students in grades 1 and 2.

On Saturday, March 4th, School 2 will have a Book Fair at Barnes & Noble at the Riverside Mall.
There will be Guest Speakers, prizes, and 15% off all purchases. Looking forward to seeing you there.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,
